Doretta L. York passed away on Saturday June 24, 2017 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL.
Doretta was born on July 24, 1933 in Oblong, IL and was the daughter of James Harlan Nathaniel Scull and Ester Bernadine (Harris) Scull. On December 27, 1958 she married Joseph “Carl” York and they were married for 50 years when Carl died on June 20, 2009.
Doretta was plant manager for Robinson Transformer from 1958 until the business closed in 2006. She was also a homemaker. Doretta was a member of the Oblong High School Class of 1952, an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was known for her fried chicken. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family.
Doretta is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law Larry Scull of Oblong, IL, Joe and Cindy York of Palestine, IL and Jim and Shara York of Oblong, IL; two daughters and sons-in-law Jeanne and Larry Garrard and Dee Anna and Ron Jennings all of Oblong, IL; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; a sister Emmaline Scull of Oblong, IL and Charlie, her dog that she dearly loved.
Doretta is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
